Some
SOLIDWORKS features resemble motion by definition. Sweep
is 'moving a sketch along a curve', so for our purposes the
side faces of the sweep are tracks.
A
simple extrude is 'moving a sketch along a straight
line'. Again, think of the side faces as tracks.
If
there is one sketch here and another there, then loft
may be the track in between.
It seems
as if for every 'track' or path in mind, there is a suitable
feature. Here is a tough one - polishing an aircraft wing (or
a big turbine blade, a propeller or any such fuzzy object).
The path you see on the wing was made in several steps, none
requiring the presence of the wing itself.
- A sketch was drawn on a plane above the wing.
- The sketch was projected on the wing surface.
- You click ONCE on the curve and ONCE on the wing surface.
Was that so hard?
We achieved an accurate, editable path without the wing, the
robot or the tool.
